Sustainable supply chain management for ESG performance improvement with the use of digital technology

Supply chain management encourage the coordination among the supply chain members, from the point of origin to the point of consumption, to improve the long-term performance of each member in the supply chain.In business, improving the performance often means improving the profitability.  However, to achieve a long-term success, firms need to go beyond just profitability and pay attention to sustainability performances, which include economic, social and environmental aspects.  Sustainability extends beyond the boundary of a firm.  Hence, integrating sustainability into the firm’s supply chain management is a must-do such as ethical practices for supplier selection and managing supply chain emissions.Adoption of modern technologies have become a part of the businesses across industries.  Leveraging these technologies can help improve sustainability performances. For example, robotics and digital twins help improve efficiency.  In addition, data analytics and visualization can support decision-making to optimize resource use and reduce, or even minimize, carbon emissions that are harmful to the environment.

This course will cover the integration of sustainability into managing a supply chain and leveraging technologies for improved sustainability performances.  The topics include supply chain strategy and performance drivers; supply chain sustainability performance and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) risks; ethical supply chain practices, modern technologies such as robotics, digital twins, and block chain; analyses of an extended supply chain for its social and environmental impacts and how these impacts are linked to economic performance.
